My Adventure on the Butterfly Island: A True Love Affair!

The week in Guadeloupe was nothing short of paradise — a real feast for the senses!

An incredible discovery of lush flora and fauna, and endless shades of blue along those stunning sandy beaches.

We explored the Botanical Garden in Basse-Terre, followed by a refreshing swim at Saut d’Acomat. A stop at La Touna restaurant for a delicious Planteur cocktail and a visit to the Maison du Cacao made the day even more special.

Les Saintes, with their dreamlike beaches and the famous Tourment d’Amour pastry, truly feel like heaven on earth. The landscapes of Basse-Terre — waterfalls, lush vegetation, distilleries, kayaking through mangroves, and diving spots — offered a total change of scenery. We also visited Fort Napoléon, a true cultural gem, and met its charming “residents,” the chameleons hidden in the garden trees.

In Marie-Galante, time seems to stand still. The Habitation Murat tells a captivating story of the island’s past. The colorful “Marché à Doudous” is a delight, bursting with spices, tropical fruits, and music that makes you want to dance to the rhythm of zouk. And of course, the island’s famous rum distilleries gave us a taste of an authentic Guadeloupe.

A must-see was the Mémorial ACTe, the renowned museum tracing the history of Guadeloupe and the Caribbean through the lens of slavery.

My biggest crush was the Relais du Moulin Hotel: a stunning, peaceful setting with warm, attentive staff. The food was excellent, and the spa felt magical.

We also stopped at the iconic Pointe des Châteaux, which offers a breathtaking view over the Atlantic.

Clearly, the Guadeloupe Islands have stolen my heart. It’s a destination I can’t wait to return to — one trip was not enough to uncover all the beauty it has to offer.
